Legacy Giving

Legacy Giving

Help protect and promote maritime archaeology through leaving a legacy in your will or an In Memory gift.

The past shapes the future for all generations – you can help protect and promote the maritime archaeology of the UK through a legacy or an In Memory gift. The MAT is a charity and receives no direct government funding. It is through funding support mechanisms such as legacies that it is possible to continue our work. Your gift could help us enormously with the scientific research that underpins our award-winning education and outreach programme.

Leaving a Legacy

Leaving a gift in your will to the MAT will allow you to pass on your passion for maritime archaeology and heritage to future generations. Without your support this fragile aspect of our heritage could be at risk.

Leaving a gift to charity in your will can be a simple and tax efficient way of supporting a cause that you care about. It is advisable that you should seek help from a solicitor when you are drafting your will, or making changes to an existing will, they will be able to provide professional advice.

To leave a legacy to the MAT you need to provide the registered charity details and address to your solicitor.

In Memory Donation

This can provide a lasting legacy for a cause they loved and cared about, while enabling others to experience that passion in the future.

You can make an In Memory donation by post. Please make cheques payable to ‘Maritime Archaeology Trust’. Please include the following details in a covering note:

  • Your name, address and phone number
